Atlanta native Britt Bass Turner is an abstract artist known for her playful and colorful paintings. She fell in love with color and design at a young age—by way of her interior designer mother—through immersing herself in fabric samples and color swatches. Britt is constantly refining her eye for aesthetics and design, and hopes to bring this sense of exploration and curiosity to her current work.

Britt received a BFA in art education with an emphasis on painting from the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia in 2011. She wanted to continue explore painting for a couple years before diving into teaching, but to her greatest surprise and joy, her side job of painting quickly turned into a “grown up” career. six years after graduating, Britt is still going strong, making paintings and installations fulltime in her Roswell, Georgia studio. She also calls the quiet, Southern town her home, which she shares with her husband, Render Turner, and their Boykin Spaniel, Birdie.

“My work is about process and intuition. I am interested in the juxtaposition of medium, texture, color, and shape. I am ever searching for ways to create subtleties and surprises through fine details and layers. I feel the work takes on its own life, and the subconscious of the painting and my own intuition mutualistically guide the process. Through layering, adding and omitting I explore this artistic relationship until it culminates into a whole, finished piece.”

After graduating from the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism in 2007, Sejal went on to work for PEOPLE magazine in New York City. She eventually found her way south again, serving as the associate editor of Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, where she spent six years immersing herself in the very best of the city’s food and design culture. With passion for art and interiors, and in search of other creative opportunities, Sejal joined Britt as her studio manager in 2014. Her husband’s job has brought them back to Athens, Georgia where she now handles the brand’s commissions, collaborations, press and more. In between helping clients bring Britt's beautiful artwork into their homes, Sejal reports on the South’s best restaurants and most inspiring residences as a freelance writer for lifestyle publications.
